2025 Interior Trends We’re Actually Excited About

Can you believe we’re already halfway through 2025?

At Pete Bird Kitchens & Bathrooms, we’ve been busy working with homeowners across Peterborough, helping them refresh and reimagine their kitchens and bathrooms. And as the months have passed, we’ve noticed some clear design trends emerging.

If you’ve been thinking about a home update, but want to make sure it’s worth the investment, here are five trends we’re seeing, and loving, right now.

1. Earthy Colour Palettes

Sage KitchenSo far, 2025 has been all about soft, natural colours. Think sage greens or creamy off-whites. These tones bring a real sense of calm and warmth into a space, without feeling dark or dated.

Why we love it: These colours are wonderfully flattering, easy to live with, and work beautifully with wood accents, stone surfaces and brushed brass fixtures – all of which are also trending this year.

2. Spa-Inspired Bathrooms

We’ve mentioned this a few times in our blogs, but there is no denying that there is a growing desire to create more than just ‘functional’ bathrooms in 2025. Features like walk-in rainfall showers, sleek built-in storage, natural stone tiles and ambient lighting are all in high demand.

Why we love it: These calming, spa-like details turn an everyday room into a small daily luxury. Your bathroom is your alone space, so why shouldn’t you max out the luxury?

Bold Splashbacks

3. Bold Splashbacks

Tiles and splashbacks are getting their moment in the spotlight this year. Whether it’s a statement tile behind your hob, a handmade ceramic in the bathroom, or a sleek, seamless glass panel, this is a design detail that adds character without clutter.

Why we love it: It’s a relatively small change that can completely transform the look of your kitchen or bathroom. There is also loads of room for personality, from traditional patterns to modern textures.

4. Layered Lighting

Layered LightingOne ceiling light simply isn’t enough anymore. Although, frankly, we never thought it was. We’re seeing more thoughtful lighting schemes that layer task lighting, mood lighting and accent lighting to make each room feel flexible and welcoming.

Why we love it: Whether you’re cooking, relaxing with a glass of wine or getting ready for guests, the right lighting transforms how a space works and feels. Choosing the right lighting will also help to highlight all the lovely features you’ve invested in, whereas the wrong lighting options can have the opposite effect.

5. Sustainable Choices

From eco-friendly materials to energy saving fittings, more and more people are asking how they can make design decisions that are both beautiful and kind to the environment. The good news is that you don’t have to sacrifice aesthetics for sustainability.

Why we love it: From natural materials, to energy efficient appliances and water saving taps, there are a wealth of choices available, and all of them feel just as luxurious as their standard counterparts.
