At Pete Bird Kitchens & Bathrooms, we’ve always said our showroom kitchens aren’t just for show. They’re real, fully functioning kitchens designed to be used every day. But let’s be honest, sometimes you’ve got to see it to believe it. That’s why we decided to bring in a professional chef to cook live and show exactly what a Pete Bird Kitchen is made of.

We were thrilled when local chef Simon Pollendine agreed to join us for a Saturday lunch. From the moment he arrived, the showroom was buzzing. There’s something genuinely exciting about watching a kitchen in action: knives chopping, pans sizzling, the smell of fresh ingredients filling the air. And I’ll admit it straight away, the dishes Simon cooked up were incredible.

But this wasn’t just about the food. It was about showing how a well designed, practical kitchen can cope with real life cooking without breaking a sweat.

Not Just For Show

Events like this really remind me why we built the showroom the way we have. It’s not just about display units or a slick, shiny space. It’s about creating an environment where ideas come to life and homeowners can see what’s possible for their own kitchens. Watching Simon at work, while people were allowed to explore, ask questions, and even get hands on with the units, really brought that vision to life.

It’s also a great reminder of the small touches that make a big difference. Clever use of space, smart lighting, and thoughtful design details can completely transform how people live in their homes. Seeing someone open a drawer or slide a clever pull out tray and have that lightbulb moment, when they realise that their own kitchen could work this way, is exactly why we love doing what we do.

For me, moments like these are what the Pete Bird showroom is all about. It’s a place to get inspired, ask questions, and imagine the possibilities for your own home. It’s also a place where we can show what makes us different: top quality craftsmanship, practical design and personal support every step of the way.
